I started life looking through an eyepiece. There are lots of things that look great through an eyepiece, some cannot even truly be captured by the camera… but listen… galaxies are not one of them. Yeah, yeah, the light has traveled for millions or billions of years to finally reach my telescope and look like… well, let’s be honest; like someone smeared snot on my eyepiece. As soon as you put a camera on a telescope, galaxies POP into existence and are fantastic! Don’t get me wrong, I do get a thrill when I have enough aperture and I can “see” some structure to a galaxy, but in the case of these objects… a picture is worth a thousand Nagler’s 😉
