"... there is no speech nor language
where their voice is not heard."

Regardless of whether you think of the Universe as a Creation, or the most wonderful of accidents, one cannot help but identify with the words of King David of Israel. Of all the writings of antiquity, none other so eloquently recognizes the grandeur and the beauty of the night sky. To see the Milky Way under a dark sky is to behold a breathless thing of beauty. The splendor of the stars transcends cultural, political, even language boundaries. Starstone wishes to encourage and support the study and appreciation of our night sky. "It is a heritage to all the nations of the earth". By learning about the universe, perhaps we can come to appreciate more our place and purpose in it. The night sky is simply one of the most spectacular sights in all creation, and at Starstone we want everyone to come to know about the sky, and it's place in our history and culture. While lakes, rivers and forests have come to be protected against terrestrial pollution, few have yet to realize the polluting effects of wasteful, and inefficient lighting on the night sky. Proper lighting fixtures can save money, energy, and illuminate the ground without lighting up the sky. To learn more about light pollution, visit the International Dark Sky Association's web site at http://www.darksky.org/. At Starstone, Science Rocks. |
