On Novmber 28th, 2012 the Moon and Jupiter made a beautiful pair in the sky. Wanting some context, I set up my tripod in the backyard and took two exposures. One for the Moon and Jupiter, and one to get the Silhouette of the tree branches in the foreground. No scope, just a camera on a tripod... ...
I'm calling this the Sucker Hole of a Lifetime! Nearly the whole state of Florida was clouded out. I waited in a parking lot in the rain with an umbrella hoping for a little gap before the sun set. Got it!

A thin cresent moon is alwasy a great subject for a wide field tripod shot. This was made with two exposures. One focused and exposed for the foreground trees, and the other for the moon. Composited in Photoshop... a manual HDR if you will. Nothing about the scale or position was changed.
